City Hall artist program

City Hall at 101 City Hall Plaza • Durham , NC
This new program will exhibit the works of several Durham artists at the Office of the Mayor. Every three months, a local artist will exhibit their works in Mayor William V. “Bill” Bell’s office. This year’s artists include: Todd H. Bond (August 2 – October 31, 2007), Jose Galvez (November 1, 2007 – January 31, 2008), Andria Linn (February 1 – April 30, 2008), and Joe Samms (May 1 – July 31, 2008).
I have chosen to install Mayor Bells office with my Jazz series. These pieces are inspired by the musicians and vocalists that have left an impression on me and our culture. These works are all narratives, extractions from biographies and song titles.
"At the close of this series of work, I think my greatest realization was that not only has music been an integral part of life around us, but it has woven itself into our very beings, and given us a sense of unity and equality". Thank you Mayor Bill Bell for this great opportunity!
